Melissa Sun Named SVP, Purpose At Rosenfield Media Group
EXCLUSIVE: Public Relations and marketing vet Melissa Sun has joined Rosenfield Media Group (RMG PR) as SVP, Purpose.
The addition of Purpose joins RMG PR’s existing divisions that focus on Entertainment, Business, Sports and Live Events.
Sun counts close to two decades of experience in agency and in-house comms and marketing roles. She will spearhead the new RMG PR division that will focus on representation of non-profits, brands, talent
and entertainment companies who live and activate within the social impact and political space. This includes brand communications, media strategies, talent and partner activations, and special projects (ie: building advisory councils and covert campaigns).
Sun brings over to RMG PR an impressive roster that includes Sierra Club, the largest environmental org in the US; Good Energy, the climate script consultancy; Beyond Advisers, the social impact architects
behind The Clinton Foundation and Will & Jada Smith Family Foundation; United Nations Association of New York, and more.
Sun will work closely with RMG PR ‘s Amanda Brocato to expand the company’s slate of purpose-driven events that already features Daymond John’s “Black Entrepreneurs Day”; Shaquille O’Neal Foundation’s “The Event”; and the University of Texas’ “Ransom Center Gala.” Sun also has an eye to cultivate RMG PR’s purpose-driven entertainment clients that include tv, film, podcasts, and production companies.
“As we aggressively look to diversify our suite of services, developing a division whose only goal is representing clients who work to make the world a better place was at the top of the list,” said RMG PR CEO Zachary Rosenfield. “Melissa was the only name we considered for this role given her tremendous
reputation throughout the nonprofit space and history with our talent.”
“I’m thrilled to return to my agency roots and collaborate with a broader number of people, orgs
and brands working on the most pressing issues of our time. I’m particularly passionate about the increasing impacts of culture and tech that work to tackle large scale problems, and create a more just and equitable world. I’m grateful to Zach for seeing the value and making space for this work,” said Sun.
Sun began her career as a news producer for NBC; went on to become VP at RMG PR representing A-list talent and launching groundbreaking entertainment including It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and Breaking Bad; consulted for tech companies and creators; then spent a decade inside Sierra Club leading Brand Marketing & Partnerships.
