“From the beginning?” Kathy asks the interviewer. “Yes, please,” he responds. Flash back to 1965 Chicago and the rise of the Vandals. “The was the golden age of bike riders,” she says.
Here’s the first trailer for The Bikeriders, writer-director Jeff Nichols‘ drama starring Austin Butler, Jodie Comer and Tom Hardy, that premiered at Telluride last week. Have a look at the footage above and the new poster below.
Inspired by Danny Lyon’s book of photography, The Bikeriders follows the fictional Midwestern motorcycle club through the lives of its members. Comer plays Kathy, a strong-willed member of the Vandals who’s married to a wild, reckless bikerider named Benny (Butler) and recounts the club’s evolution over the course of a decade. It began as a local group of outsiders united by good times, rumbling bikes and respect for their strong, steady leader Johnny (Hardy). But as life in the Vandals gets more dangerous, the club threatens to become a more sinister gang.
“The club got real big real fast,” Kathy says.
Over the years, Kathy tries her best to navigate her husband’s untamed nature and his allegiance to Johnny, with whom she feels she must compete for Benny’s attention. And Johnny is looking for a successor.
Michael Shannon, Mike Faist, Boyd Holbrook and Norman Reedus also star in the pic from 20th Century Studios and New Regency.
Sarah Green, Brian Kavanaugh-Jones and Arnon Milchan are the producers, with Yariv Milchan, Michael Schaefer, Sam Hanson, David Kern and Fred Berger serving as executive producers.
Disney releases the film December 1 in U.S. theaters.
