EXCLUSIVE: Here’s your first look at Raindance competition title Catching Dust, starring The Boys breakout Erin Moriarty.
Written and directed by Stuart Gatt, the film follows Geena (Moriarty), who finally decides to leave her criminal husband, Clyde (Courtney), and their isolated Texas hideout when a couple from New York suddenly arrives in search of respite from the city. Ignoring the risks their presence may bring, Geena convinces Clyde to let them stay, a decision with dangerous consequences for them all.
Also starring are Jai Courtney, Dina Shihabi, and Ryan Corr. The film is produced by Mark David, Jon Katz, Stuart Gatt, and Edward R. Pressman. Cinematographer is Aurélien Marra (Two of Us) and editor is Nicolas Gaster. The pic debuted at Tribeca. UTA is handling sales.
Catching Dust is Gatt’s debut feature. He is perhaps best known for the short film My Beautiful White Skin, which tackled skin lightening amongst the British Asian diaspora and starred Red Notice’s Ritu Arya. His last short, The Dead Sea, starred BAFTA-nominated Sope Dirisu and focused on the plight of Libyan refugees’ perilous journey into Europe.
Moriarty is best known as the female lead on Amazon’s The Boys, which just wrapped filming the fourth season. She also stars in the upcoming thriller True Haunting, opposite Jamie Campbell Bower, which Screen Gems will release later this year. Her other notable credits include the Emmy-winning and Golden Globe-nominated series True Detective, the Netflix crime action series Jessica Jones, the Oscar-nominated film Captain Fantastic, Blood Father opposite Mel Gibson, which debuted in competition in Cannes, and the Sundance classic The Boys of Summer.
