Vincent D’Onofrio is breaking his silence as Daredevil: Born Again is going through a creative overhaul with new head writers.
The actor responded to a fan who said D’Onofrio’s comments from the past about the series had “aged poorly.”
Back in April of this year, D’Onofrio expressed his excitement over the Marvel series teasing that he had “just finished a big scene yesterday and it was so intense and wonderful working with two of the other cast members.”
Amid the turmoil behind the scenes and a pivot of the series from a procedural to a serial, D’Onofrio clapped back at the fan questioning the excitement for the show.
“Unless you really know what’s going there’s a chance you could be wrong about this statement,” D’Onofrio posted on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter. “We are going to bring forward the best series we can. One we can be proud of. Have some trust my freind [sic], trust.”
The fan replied back to D’Onofrio and claimed to only be “going off reports/my personal feelings about this weird new era of television.”
“Every cool project I’ve been involved with has evolved constantly during pre-production, production and post,” D’Onofrio explained. It’s just reported on these days as if it’s big news. It’s not. It’s simple a bunch of creatives doing their best to get it right. It’s a constant in this business. I wouldn’t have it any other way. Frankly, I’d be worried if we were settling for less.”
D’Onofrio is set to reprise his role as Wilson Fisk/Kingpin, the powerful businessman and crime lord. The Marvel series originally streamed on Netflix for three seasons. Disney+ is reviving the characters with Daredevil: Born Again as part of Phase Five of the MCU.
